Design For Dance
Here is a sample of my concept work completed as part of my Theatre Design Degree. The brief was to design a three act dance piece based on a music of our own choice. I chose the soundtrack from the film 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' because I was inspired by the asian feel and dramatic score.
I designed three distinct movements: the first was slow, serene and traditional. I imagined light fabrics, colours and movements. The second was bolder, brighter and more modern. I was inspired by busy city life and exaggerated catwalk fashion. The final act was raw, edgy and industrial. It was inspired by youth culture, media and nightlife.
The costume designs were produced on handmade Chinese paper using traditional calligraphy brushes and inks.
